Accessibility statement

We build this website to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the international standard for accessible websites, and check new pages against it before they go live.

The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit or been tested by disabled users. We would like to do both. Until then, your feedback is the most useful check we have.

• Pages are marked up with landmarks (header, main menu, breadcrumb, main content and footer), so screen reader users can jump to the part they want.
• Product photos in the gallery have text descriptions, and each product’s size range, finish, packaging and category are written out as text, not only shown in pictures.
• Pop-up windows, such as product quick view, close with the Escape key or their close button.
• Animations are switched off when your device is set to reduce motion.
• The map of our shop is Google’s, so we cannot change how it works. Our address and a link that opens directions in Google Maps sit beside it as text.

We would rather tell you than have you find out:

• There is no “Skip to main content” link yet, so keyboard users have to tab through the main menu on every page.
• Some product photos show details, such as markings on a bolt head or the text on a box, that are not yet written out on the page. Ask us and we will read them to you or send them in writing.
• We have not yet checked every page and pop-up against every WCAG 2.2 AA rule. If you find one that does not work for you, please tell us.
